At the Vienna site, Boehringer Ingelheim focuses on drug substance process development for its microbial-derived portfolio. This includes cell line generation, upstream-, downstream- and analytical development. You will be part of our upstream development team with focus on new biological entities and take responsibility in early and late stage development phases.

Duties & Responsibilities

In your new role, you will …

  • act as scientific expert for development, optimization and characterization of fermentation processes
  • scale-up and transfer fermentation processes for the production of drug substance
  • prepare and review technical documents including study protocols and reports, risk assessments and provide input for regulatory and GMP relevant documents
  • work in a matrix environment with departments like downstream- and analytical development, quality control and production
  • contribute to technology developments, coordinate internal and external collaborations and drive the implementation of your results into routine production processes
  • collaborate in preparing patents and scientific publications

Requirements

  • PhD in (Bio-)Process Engineering/Biotechnology or similar with a relevant industry experience (> 2 years)
  • Hands-on experience in development of fermentation processes and sound knowledge of control strategies and scale-up principles
  • Broad scientific knowledge and ability to think interdisciplinary
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
  • First experience with process automation, statistics and process modelling
  • Understanding of DoE and QbD principles
  • Excellent presentation and technical writing skills – fluency in English and German
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

For this position we offer an interesting salary package considering your expertise and personal competencies as well as your professional experience. We are obliged by law to state the minimum salary according to the collective agreement, which amounts to € 36,433.04 gross per year (full-time) for this position, whereby an overpayment is possible.
